AK to OK Day 8
Day 8
June 30, 2011
Nellis AFB, Nevada to Albuquerque, New Mexico
We slept in today. We got up about 8:30 and Anna, my sister-in-law, had made us pancakes. We decided that today the dogs would start riding inside the cab of the truck to be out of the heat and be able to cool down. Ryan had to rearrange a few things before we left Nellis. Once we got going it was about 10:30. We decided to follow our GPS and went toward Lake Mead. We encountered some road paving on Lake Mead Blvd and got tar rocks on the truck, trailer, and car. We had to pay at $10.00 toll to drive around Lake Mead. It was pretty. We did not get to see the Hoover Dam. They have built a new bridge that you drive over and the walls are very high and you cannot see the dam. Once we got out of the Hoover Dam area we headed south tot Kingman, Arizona and got on the I-40. We drove the I-40 all the way to Albuquerque, NM. We arrived about 11:00pm and stayed at a Comfort Inn that I had booked. We where not very happy with this Comfort Inn. It was old and run down. The internet was slow and I had a hard time uploading pictures to my blog. We finally went to bed a bit after midnight!!
