AK to OK Christmas Edition

Well, I am two days from Christmas break.  Today went by so fast.  I am so excited to go home and see my family! We will be home for almost two weeks.  I am so excited to see how much my niece and nephew have grown since June! We got to see a lot of Ryan's family during Thanksgiving break and that was really nice.  About two weeks after we got back from Parowan Ryan's Grandma Hunter passed away, so he headed back to Parowan for a week of family time, funeral services and burying his grandmother.  He drove to and from Utah and had a safe trip.  I held down the fort with Kiska and Mia and enjoyed hanging out with some of my fellow teachers from Wiley Post.  We are well into the escrow process for our new house and are excited to get away from this crappy apartment and the violence of NW Oklahoma City.  There was a shooting this weekend at the end of our road and then today as I was driving home from school there were four police cars at an apartment complex on our street.  They were arresting several gentlemen!! I am going to post a few more pictures of our new house and what Ryan's 1940 Cadillac La Salle will hopefully look like once it is fully restored! I am also posting a picture of Ryan and two of his younger brothers out in front of the chapel during his grammy's funeral, this picture was taken by my father-in-law, Rick Neff.  Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

AK to OK 6 months

Well we have been in Oklahoma for SIX months!  The time has flown by.  We just returned from our road trip to Utah.  We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Ryan's family in Parowan, Utah.  Ryan's parents and two of this younger brothers and their families came to Parowan as well.  Ryan got to spend a lot of time with his grandparents, who are both dealing with many health problems.  We got to experience Zion National Park, Cedar Breaks area and Brian Head ski resort.  In other great new.....WE GOT A HOUSE!!  The day after we arrived home we put an offer on a house that we had looked a a couple of times.  We will be closing at the end of January and are soooo thrilled about the new place.  I will add a couple of pictures here with my blog post.  The house is in Piedmont, Oklahoma which is northwest of Oklahoma City.  It is 3 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, about 2,600 square feet, 2 acres, a swimming pool, a 1,460 square foot shop, two living areas, two dining areas, a garden, two car garage attached to the house, a nice pantry and a 1940 Cadillac LaSalle(which Ryan will be restoring)!!  So life is good right now for Ryan and Krissee Neff!  We will be heading home to Anchorage on December 22 for two weeks and are excited to see our families and friends!  Happy Holiday, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

AK to OK 5 months

It is almost Thanksgiving time.  I was just figuring out how long we have been in Oklahoma and it will be 5 months on December 2.  The time has gone by very fast.  We have a lot coming up so I will tell you a bit about what Ryan and I are up to.  We will be having and IUI (Intra-Uterine Insemination) this coming Saturday morning.  We are very excited about this.  This will the third time we have had this procedure and we are hoping third time is the charm.  We are with a new doctor, a  new city and a new place in life.  Next, we will be heading to Utah next Friday, November 18th.  We will be spending Thanksgiving with Ryan's side of the family.  His parents will be flying down from AK, Randy and Anna and family will drive up from Las Vegas and Rob and Crystal and family will drive up from Texas and we will drive together.  Ryan's grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins on his mom's side of the family all live in or around Parowan, UT.  We are excited to see everyone and visit for a week.  We are also excited for the road trip to and from OK.  It is about 1,000 miles from Oklahoma City to Parowan so it should be a good trip.  We will then be headed to AK on December 22 for two weeks.  I am SOOOOOO excited to go home.  I know it really has not been that long since we left but I miss AK A LOT.  We will be busy for the two weeks that we are home.  We will stay with my parents, my sister and my in-laws.  We hope to see friends, too.
On another note:  We have been keeping busy with work.  Our apartment flooded on Monday night and we have been dealing with drying out the carpet and cleaning up the mess.  The water leaked into the apartment in a poorly built spot in the foundation.  It is located right by our front door, so when we had strong and heavy rains on Monday night it came in.

AK to OK 3 months!!

Well, we have been here in Oklahoma City for three months now.  They school year is in full swing for me at Wiley Post Elementary.  I am very challenged by my new school.  I am enjoying my class, I have 19 students in 4th grade.  I am enjoying getting to know my team mates and other teacher at my school.  I work with great people, but my 4th grade team is supportive, smart and fun.  I joined the Putnam City bowling league and I bowl every Wednesday night.  I am really liking bowling!!!  I got a 134 last week!! Ryan is enjoying his job!  He got to teach a bit last week and had a former co-worker from Anchorage in his class.  He is slowly getting more responsibility.  He is also having fun learning how to create apps for the iPhone.  He is taking the Stanford Classes that are offered on itunes university.
It looks like we will close on the sale of our home in Anchorage by the end of the week.  We will start looking at houses in December.  We have our lease until February 29th, 2012, so we have some time to look and really get a house that we want and deserve.  We have lots of trips planned in the near future.  We will be leaving to drive to Parowan, Utah on November 17th.  We will have a wonderful Thanksgiving with my mother-in-law's side of the family and two of Ryan's three brother's will also be joining us.  We will then be going home to Anchorage on December 22nd for two weeks.  I am really excited about this!  I will get to see family and friends and the mountains!!  My mom has decided to come and visit Oklahoma City.  She will be here during my spring break, March 17th-26th.  She will fly into Dallas and I will drive down and pick her up.
We have been trying to get out and experience Oklahoma and the surrounding areas.  We went to he Oklahoma State Fair and had a great time eating and people watching.  We also went down to Southlake, Texas and stayed with our friends the Mecham's.  We went to the Texas State Fair with them and had a great weekend.  We also got to visit with Ryan's brother Robert and his family.
I am starting to feel more comfortable here in OKC and things are never dull.  I do miss my family and my old school, Kincaid.  I am trying to decide if I am going to get my master's degree and what I am going to pick as my emphasis.
Another big thing that Ryan and I are going to be focusing on while we are here in Oklahoma is having a baby.  We have found a very successful fertility clinic here in Oklahoma City and I have my first appointment next week with a Reproductive Endocrinologist.  I am hoping this doctor can help me with my PCOS as well as the fertility issues that I have.  Wish us luck and lots of prayer will be needed if we decide to do IVF!

AK to OK Week 6

Well I have been very busy and have not gotten to update this in almost a month.  We are all moved into our apartment!  We are using our extra bedroom as our storage room and are not unpacking every box.  We really do not have the space for it all.  Our apartment is a two bedroom and two bathroom, about 995 square feet and that is a lot smaller than our house in Anchorage.  The house in Anchorage is still on the market.  If we do not have a contract here in the next three weeks we are going to rent it out as of October 1st.  Ryan and I really want to buy a house here in Oklahoma once our lease is up in February.  We have to sell our house or get a stable renter in their.  I have very busy with my new teaching job.  I have 19 fourth graders, 11 girls and 8 boys.  I have been doing A LOT of learning myself.  I am in a new state with different standards than Alaska, a new school district, a new curriculum and a very different school than Kincaid.  I just finished my first full week!  It was a good week, but very tiring.  The school day is longer and added before and after school duties make for a long day.  I have been taking a lot of naps!  Ryan is in the new instructor training class until this coming Thursday.  He has been learning all about being an instructor at the Academy and has been giving presentations.  His big 50 minute presentation is on Wednesday this coming week.  He seems to like his new job and really likes all the people that he is working with down here.  We are heading down to Texas for the long weekend!  We will visit Rob and Crystal and the kids as well as good friends Tressa and Jeremy Meacham who just moved to Texas at the beginning of August.  I have a bunch of pictures of the move-in, Kiska and Mia and of my classroom so enjoy!

AK to OK Week 3

We have been busy!!  After I got home from my weekend in Washington and Oregon I was busy doing many things like: signing my paperwork at Putnam City School District, looking at apartments with Ryan and getting ready for my weekend in Minneapolis, MN.
I became an NYR Organic Skin Care consultant in June 2010.  I have been using and sharing these wonderful products with friends and family.  If you are looking for safe, organic and wonderful health and beauty products you should check out my website at:  https://us.nyrorganic.com/shop/krissee_neff
I decided to attend the NYR Organic Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  I drove from Oklahoma City to Minneapolis, it took 12 hours and was a great drive.  I had no problems on the drive and I was able to find my hotel by the Mall of America.  I was able to go to the mall a few times.  The conference started on Friday afternoon and went until Sunday at lunchtime.  We learned all about new products coming out,  the new catalog, saving the bees around the world, organic tips and tricks, direct selling ideas and much more.  I was able to have fun with my Alaska team members during the off time.  On Monday after the conference a few ladies decided to float the Apple River in Wisconsin.  We rented tubes and had a great time!!!  I ended up flipping off my tube and lost my sunglasses and flip-flops.  We had a great time and also were able to go down some water slides at the resort we rented the tubes.   I drove home on Tuesday.  It was another 12 hour drive.  I had no issues during the drive and am glad to be home for awhile now!!
Ryan and I will be moving into our new apartment next week!!  We are very excited to finally have a place to call ours.  We were able to sign a 6 month lease so we are hoping our house in Anchorage sells in the meantime.  I received my State of Oklahoma teaching certification in the mail this week.  I am certified to teach 1st-8th grade here in Oklahoma!

AK to OK Week 2

We have been in Oklahoma City for two weeks now.  We went and looked at homes last week.  We really need our house in Anchorage to sell in order to buy a place down here.  If you know anyone who is in the market, we have a great place for sale!  I spent the last weekend in Washington and Oregon.  I got to spend a fun weekend with Chelsea, Leah and Emily.  These are a few of my girlfriends that I grew up with in Anchorage.  We all now live in different place in the lower 48 so we get together once a year.  This was our second year.  We are thinking Montana next summer!!  Ryan is settling in to his new job.  He will be teaching his first class starting on August 8th.  He seems to be enjoying it and making some friends.  I am officially hired at the Putnam City School District.  I will be teaching 4th grade at Wiley Post Elementary School.  I am excited about my new adventure in teaching.  We have been really blessed during this move.  A few people have mentioned that maybe we were meant to move here.  We had no problems on the drive down.  I found a job in the first week and we have been doing great!!  Here are a few pictures from my trip and of some of the crazy weather we had last week.  I think it is going to take me awhile to get use to the thunder, lightning and hale storms!!!
